Joan Silverberg Barteau of
Troy, Missouri recently celebrated her 80th birthday. 100 of her close friends and family joined Dallas & Joan for lunch on the festive occasion on June 9th at
The Trigg Banquet Center in O’Fallon, Missouri.
Joan is well known and loved in the community. Four of her six children and many grand & great grand children live in the area. She taught school in Silex and served as principal at Sacred Heart School in Troy. Kind and generous, she is beloved by friends and family alike.
Joan is still a beauty at 80
and very active. She happily keeps up
her with volunteer schedule, and is a tremendous blessing to her family and all
who know her.
We knew Mom
would not want birthday gifts for herself, just the precious time spent with dear
ones. It is also well know that she is
an avid, Pro-Life supporter. So, as a surprise for Mom, the
invitation read as follows:
Please, gifts are
unnecessary, but if you would like, in lieu of gifts, please consider bringing
an unwrapped item for a newborn baby to be donated in Joan’s honor to
Birthright International located in Wentzville.
The guests whole heartedly
adopted the suggestion and showered Joan with baby gifts. Many baby clothes, blankets, diapers, toys,
etc. were donated; the estimated value over $1,000.
On behalf of her grand children, Matt Silverberg presented his grand mother with a Memories Album. The pages were filled with snapshots and precious stories & memories of their Grandma.
It was a lovely afternoon
spent celebrating a very lovely lady.
This is the day which the LORD has made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
